Freestone Peaches
Dickey Farms is known for its multigenerational legacy with Georgia-grown goods. With over 125 years of experience, we're a favorite choice for locally grown produce. Our freestone peach is juicy enough to eat over the kitchen sink. Its hallmark sweet flavor makes it one of the most widely anticipated peaches of the season.
What Is a Freestone Peach?
Our freestone peach is the largest of our varieties. Whenever you break the peach in half, the flesh falls freely from the pit. Each bite offers a sweet, delicious taste that'll have you going in for another.
At Dickey Farms, our peaches offer a balanced flavor that makes them great for various recipes. Many bakers enjoy the fruit's easy preparation when making desserts and jams.
What Are the Most Common Uses?
With an easily removable pit, freestone peaches are most commonly eaten out of hand. The peaches are also simple to slice and prepare, which makes them a versatile fruit for the following:
- Baking and cooking: Make desserts ranging from pies to cobblers and tarts. We sell an assortment of baking mixes for you to try — you can also taste our seasonal menu of peach items, including fresh baked fritters and bread.
- Salad additions: Add some sweetness and texture to fresh salads. Drizzle some fruit dressings or vinaigrettes on top for extra flavor.
- Preserving: Enjoy peaches all year round with canning and freezing. Some of our peach products include jellies, jams, syrups and sauces.
- Ice cream: Try our soft-serve ice cream in a waffle cone, sugar cone or cup. Our homemade peach ice cream is usually available from summer to winter.
- Candies: Have a sweet tooth? Satisfy your cravings with our selections of peach candies ranging from jelly beans to gummies and taffy.
- Cider: Pour a glass of our bottled peach cider made with our hand-picked fruit. You can enjoy the drink cold, turn it into a slushy or heat it in a crockpot to make your whole home smell good.
- Tea: Make a cup of hot tea whenever you need a moment to relax or feel under the weather. Our peach tea bags are packed with nutritious benefits.
When Is Freestone Peach Season?
While our freestone peach is one of the last fruits we harvest each season, it's well worth the wait — their season typically runs from early to mid-June through August.
